OUT-MODED SYSTEMS OF SPRINGING
NEW TYPES FOR ALL KINDS OF ROADS
The exnort drive has caused the demise of the simple semi-eliptical suspension system which has served British cars very satisfactorily since the early days of the industry. It is improbable that Britain will ever again build even small cars with the now outmoded harsh, elipticai springing in front, which, in the main, was retained because of the perfection of British road surfaces.
Even at the rear, the sliding Spring type of suspension will eventually give way to other types of suspension—independent coil springs or possibly hydraulic. From now onwards production models will be fitted with a type of suspension capable of coping with every type of road or route surface.
