GOOD CLEARANCE EFFECTED
FORTNIGHTLY TE PUKE
STOCK SALE
PRICES FOR HEAVY PIGS SLIGHTLY EASIER
(Times Correspondent)
Considerably more than the advertised number rf pigs came forward at the fortnightly stock sale at Te Puke and a good clearance was effected. Prices for heavy pigs were slightly easier and this also applied to medium store pigs. Late rates were fully maintained for buttermilk pigs and also for weaner pigs.
A medium yarding of fat cows sold very well under keen competition. Dairy cattle were also in good demand, although not many good dairy cattle came forward. The demand for Gisborne hoggets was quite good but under the present confused conditions buyers were generally cautious at today’s high prices. The following is a range of prices:—
Pigs; Choppers £5 5s to £6 15s; medium baconers £6 to £6 6s; large buttermilk pigs £5 5s to £5 15s; medium buttermilk pigs £4 15s to £5 ss; large store pigs £3 15s to £4 10s; small store pigs £3 to £3 10s; best wearier pigs £1 IBs to £2 10s; small weaners 32s to 365.
Dairy cattle: Jersey heifers £l3 to £ls: dairy cows £los 10s to £l6 15s. Fat and stcre cattle: Fat cows ex dairy £lO to £l2; lighter fat cows £8 to £10; heavy boners £3 to £3; light boners £3 t® £4 10s; empty two year heifers £6 to £7 10s.
