The first round of the 3 6-hole medal handicap event on the Tauranga Golf Club’s links at the weekend was staged in three grades, games resulting as follows: — Senior grade: Buckley and Hetherington 70, Robertson 72, Murray and Nicoll 73, Bateman, Stephens and Whitworth 74, Tennent and Ward 75, Davidson and Willcock 76, Castoll, Galloway and Steedman 77. Junior grade; Wilkie 70, Hartman 71, G. Parkes 73, Bryan 74, Rodgers, Hay and Strettcn 75, Spears 76, Green and Johnston 77, Andrews, Carew, Hodgman, Johnstone, Ramsden and Wishart 78.

C grade: Murray 67, L. Ellis 60, Bird 71, Petersen 73, Short 74, Long 75, Rawlings 76, Cunningham 78. •
