FIRE DAMAGES NEW HOME

OUTBREAK SUPPRESSED AT KATIKATI

A new home, which has been occupied for only six weeks, was partially destroyed by fire on Sunday evening. The house, which is owned by the Katikati Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., is occupied by Mr and Mrs J. Thomason and their three children. Mr Thomason is the casein factory manager.

A passing motorist, Mr R. Baker, noticed an outside wall blazing at 10.15 p.m. and aroused the family, who were all asleep. A bucket brigade was formed by the family and Mr Baker, and the fire extinguished, only £4O worth of damage being done to the builidng. Of the contents only a table and safe were damaged. The house is insured with the State Fire and the contents with theThoenix Insurance Co. The origin of the fire is unknown.
