WHEN FLOOR BOARDSGET HOT

RUBBER MAT NOT SUFFICIENT

Although the heat indicator never runs above normal, it is sometimes found that the floor of the front compartment of the car gets uncomfortably hot. On investigation it will usually be found that there is nothing more than an ordinary rubber mat on the bare boards. This is not sufficient protection. A hair felt matting can be placed under the rubber mat, or a new feltbackcd rubber mat should be procured.

Most of the heat comes from the exhaust pipe, so if a metal guard can be attached round it, it will alleviate the trouble. Covering the exhaust pipe with asbestos, which can be wired on, may also be found efficacious.
