FIRST MEETING OF NORTH AUCKLAND COMMITTEE ,

CONSIDERATION OF ORDER OF REFERENCE

(P.A.) Whangarei, April 26. The first meeting of the North Auckland Fertiliser Works Committee, which was set up by the Minister of Agriculture', Mr Cullen, over a year ago, has been arranged for May 20 at Whangarei. At this meeting it is proposed to consider the order of reference, as well as arrange for a date for the formal sitting of the committee.

The order of reference is as follows: —(1) Is a fertiliser works necessary in North Auckland; (2) if so, what type or types of fertilisers should be produced; (3) whether, if the mein demand is likely to be for ground rock phosphate, a recommendation should be made supporting the application made by an Auckland firm for a licence to import phosphate-grinding machinery. A recommendation regarding the establishment of a fertiliser works may involve the question of site of the works, finance and management, buildings and power priorities' and supply of raw materials.
