BAKER CUP CRICKET

TE PUKE’S NARROW

WIN

Albion Beaten By

One Run

Good Bowling Performance By Moorhead

(Times Correspondent.) A first-innings victory by the narrow margin of one run was gained by Te Puke when they met Albion at Te Puke during the weekend. Albion had first use of the batting crease and compiled 96 runs, mainly due to 'a good stand by C. Curtiss who compiled 34 runs. D. Lennox (16), and W. Simmonds (13), and D. Sinclair (10) were the other double figure scorers. Bowling for Te Puke J. Reid took four wickets for 23 runs and Randell secured three for 21.

Te Puke started badly when their turn came to bat and had one down for none, but Reid, and Ball stayed at the wicket for a while and Searle and Reid also featured in a good partnership. Apart from Tait, however, the rest of the team failed badly. Te Puke’s eighth wicket fell for 95, and the ninth and tenth for 97.

Moorhead bowled unchanged throughout the Te Puke innings, sending down 17 overs, including three maidens, and securing seven wickets for 45 runs. Simister took three for 38.
