MONTGOMERY GETS THE FLOOR

GIFT FROM TASMANIA Like everyone else, Lord Montgomery has his housing troubles. He has planned a new home in Hampshire. but finds that materials are not so easily come by. In Australia he mentioned that he hoped to be able to obtain sufficient hard oak to provide a decent floor for the Montgomery “cottage.” His wish was noted by a firm of timber merchants in Launceston, Tasmania, who quickly saw their opportunity to show their appreciation of the Field-Marshal in a practical way. They have taken one problem off the distinguished military shoulders by offering “Monty” all the timber he needs for his flooring job.
