ARMED RESISTANCE IN PALESTINE

BRITISH PROTEST TO AMERICA

Incitement To Murder Soldiers

War Against Friendly Country

Nbav Yprk, May 20

Britain lias protested to the United States against the raising of funds in America, to finance armed resistance against British forces in Palestine, says the New York Times correspondent in Washington. * It is understood that the British Ambassador, Lord Inverchapel, has sent a letter to the State Department saying that a recent advertisement in America amounted to an incitement to murder British officials and soldiers in Palestine. He is believed to have referred to a newspaper advertisement published last Thursday in which the playwright Ben Hecht said that American Jews Avere gratified whenever Palestine terrorists blew up a British arsenal, wrecked a Biitish gaol, robbed a British bank or used their guns and bombs against “British betrayers a'hd invaders of their homeland.’’ Lord Inverchapel’s letter apparently made it clear that Britain is not asking for the suppression of this or any kind of advertisement, but it stated that Britain did not understand why Americans should contribute funds to carry on a war against a friendly country.
