YOUNG FARMERS' CLUB
MEETING AT TE PUKE DEBATING TEAMS SELECTED (From Our Correspondent) At; the last meeting of the Te Puke Young Farmers' Club all members present delivered speeches so as to. enable the selection of a senior and junior 'team to represent the club in the forthcoming debating contests. The following speeches were given:—The benefits of Massey and Lincoln Colleges (B. Roderick); The benefits of Public Works to New Zealand (V. Munroe); Feed value and weed control on a-Hamilton farm (T. Harray); Lincoln College Scholarship (P. Heikel); Fencing materials (B. McCracken); Disadvantages of Massey and Lincoln Colleges (8., Grant); Swedish style farming (B. Western); lucerne growing (T. Melton); Care of farm machinery (M. Jenkins and A. Hareline); Matata experimental farm (B. Melton); The Y.F.C. movement .(R. Burt); Farming in England (N. McDonald); Fertilisers (B. Griffin); soil erosion (D. Henderson); and Flock House farm training (E. Anderson). The debating teams were selected ,by Mr D, B. Ross who congratulated the speakers on the way addresses were delivered. The following debating teams were team —Messrs B. Grant, N. McDonald and A. Harding; junior team, Messrs B. Roderick and V. Munroe. Mr F. Higginson was appointed a judge of the calf competition to be held on-March 14. The athletic meeting is to be held the first week after Easter, and the ensilage competition entries close on June 15 with the judge (Mr Taylor).
