Building permits already approved and pending approval by the Auck-la-nd City Council for the current vear have reached a total value not exceeded for 17 years. The figure so far is £1,625,061, higher than any since the boom years of the late twenties, when the figures reached £1,509,389 in 1929 and an increase of nearly a quartan of a million pounds over the figure ifor last year, when permits valued at £1,278,471 were issued by tne city council;
Woods, with his last shot inprove the position from two down to finish up with three shots. Woods won the 14th head, Whitworth squaring this at the 15th head. A good start by his team at the 16th saw Whitworth play two good shots to finish up with a lead of five. At the 17th Woods finished three up, and at the 18th Whitworth was lying two shots up. Stewart drew a nice shot with his first at the 19th, Johnston saving with his second. Woods failed to kill the head. Whitworth's second drew shot but Woods' effort resulted in his team lying two shots up. The last head saw Whitworth hr.wl his last to get the shot and win the game. Whitworth defeated Green 16 —9. Wocds defeated Cuthbert 19 —11. At the conclusion cf play the Francis Cup was presented to the winning team by the president of the Tauranga South Club, Mr C. Luke. 'The runners-up were also presented with trophies.
