FAVOURED BY MR 3EVIN Similar To Treaty With Soviet Union Understanding Based On Friendship - London, May 22. Speaking ip the House of Commons, the Foreign Secretary (Mr Eevin) emphasised that he had always been in favour of an alliance with the French Government of the same kind as our treaty with the Soviet Union.

He added, however, tlujt it would have to be an based on friendship between the two countries and not made conditional upon anything else. Mr Bevin agreed that all French political parties wanted an AngloFrench alliance but, he added, they also want conditions with regard to Other things before it can be discussed.
