MIXED RECEPTION
REPORT ON PALESTINE
London, May 1
The Anglo-American Committee’s report on Palestine* cannot be considered very helpful, says the Daily Telegraph. This committee admits that it will not satisfy either side, but it will clearly dissatisfy the Arabs far more than the Jews —possibly to the point of stirring up trouble within and far beyond the borders of Palestine, without any compensatory advantages. The Times says that if the report is adopted by Britain and America and finds broad acceptance, as it deserves to do, elsewhere, its translation into action cannot be successfully challenged. In the present temper of Jews and Arabs alike it will be bitterly attacked from each side, adds the Times, but partisan criticism, no matter liow sincere, must not be allowed to. disguise the honest impartiality of the committee’s findings.
