Victory By 155 Runs Over

City-Albion

Rotorua Batsmen Out Quickly

A decisive victory by 15f> runs on the first innings was gained by a team representing the Tauranga Cricket Club when it played a friendly match with the City-Albion Club from Rotorua on the Domain during the week-end.

Winning the toss Tauranga elected to bat first and the first two wickets fell cheaply, only eight runs having been scored. B. Bndd (.12) and W. Ellis (15) improved the position a little. A,t the luncheon adjournment, six wickets were down for 80 runs. When play resumed, D. Sinclair and 0. Steward featured in a valuable stand, the former contributing a very useful 27 runs. Steward attacked the bowling right from the outset and was finally caught in the outfield by M. Curtis after having given a delightful exhibition of hard hitting to score 82 runs. The innings closed with 224 runs up.

For the visitors, Godsalve howled 26 overs to capture five wickets for 67 runs and McKenzie took four for 53.

City-Albion, in their appearance at the batting crease, did not fare at all well and at one stage four' wickets were down for 19 runs. Hill (14 not out) and Doherty (14) were the only two batsmen to register double figures. The last wicket fell after only 69 runs had been contributed.

B. Budd was in great form with the hall and howled 16 overs, including six maidens, to secure five wickets for 14 runs. H. Elvy took three for 18 and E. Beer captured two for IS. Scores; —
