HARBOUR WORKS FOREMAN’S

REPORT

RANGIWAEA WHARF STARTED

The works’ foreman (Mr C. Hayman) in his report to the last meeting of the Tauranga Harbour Board revealed that the Motuhoa jetty was finished and that it filled a longneeded facility for the owners of Matakana Island. The new convenience had been completed and the old one closed, continued the report. General maintenance had been done and moorings and buoys replaced as required.

Three anchor piles were driven for Tuck and Watkins Ltd at the Bowentown area. This class of work takes a lot of preparation and for the actual time taken to drive the piles meant several days getting ready as it was all tide work.

.The Waikareao stock yards were made serviceable for the scow to unload cattle but was not used as the cattle were unloaded on the.beach at Whareroa. Ten tons of rails were unloaded and would be used for beacons where required. A start had been made with Rangiwaea wharf and 10 piles had been driven at the date of the meeting.
