FATALITY AT LOWER KAIMAI
MARRIED MAN LOSES HIS LIFE Fall Into Drain Discovery By Workmates A fatality occurred at Lower Raima! yesterday, the victim being; John Edward Ormsby, labourer, of Wairoa, aged 30 years, nuirried with eight children. Ormsby, along with others, was engaged in building a culvert at Lower Kaimai. 15 miles from Tauranga. He left his work for a few minutes and when he did not return after ten minutes a search was made. Ormsby was found by Mr Cliff Matthews, lying face downwards in a drain with four to six inches of water in it, this being about two chains away from his job. Ic is thought that he slipped or fell over a stone wall into the drain a drop of 14 feet. He had injured himself slightly, having suffered slight abrasions on the forehead and bruises on his face and an elbow. Artificial respiration was practised, but to no avail. Ormsby was employed by the Public Works Department.
