THE INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC

POSITION IN BRITAIN Cases Declining in Many Districts More Than Thousand Deaths in Week London, Dec. 19. A big increase in the number of deaths from influenza is reported in Britain. There were 1148 deaths in London and principal towns for the week ended December 11. This was an increase of more than 400 on the week before and is the highest figure for nearly seven years. However, latest reports suggest that the number of influenza cases is beginning to decline jn many districts and in the last day or so there has been an easing of the pressure on hospital and medical services.
