Gloves worn over oiled or creamed hands at night should be punctured at the finger-tips to prevent hands from becoming clammy with unevaporated sweat. Finely sliced white onion, gherkin and shredded lettuce will make a meat sandwich moist and tasty even though only little butter can be spared for the bread.
