SOLDIERS’ TRAVEL SERVICE
MORE HOSTS WANTED
MEETING TO-MORROW
In connection with the Soldiers’ Travel Service- the following letter has been forwarded to the Times by Mrs F. N. Christian of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary:
At a well-attended meeting in the Town Plall buildings on Tuesday to form, an interim committee to organise a Tauranga branch of this service, a good number of names of hostesses anxious to avail themselves ,of ’ the privilege of billeting men on furlough from overseas was handed in. There is a deal of organisation and work entailed and this is being done mostly by the Patriotic and various women’s war services and associations. This work will be made much lighter only if we have a good reserve of prospective hosts and hostesses. The list at the Times Office is not nearly big enough yet, though the response is quite fair. There must be dozens of people we cannot contact who are keen to help, so we ask all loyal and willing householders, in or out of town, and all who are willing to help or have constructive ideas to attend a meeting at the Fighting Forces Club rooms in the Town Hall to-morrow, Friday, at 11 a.m. and bring with them the names of anyone with a bed or two to spare.
