CONCERN EXPRESSED

TAURANGA-ROTORUA ROAD SERVICE

ROTORUA, Oct. 15

The recent taking over by the Government of control of the direct Tau-ranga-Rotorua road goods service was viewed with concern by the Rotorua Borough Council last evening, Mr. R. A. Potter said he had been given to understand that the Government intended to discontinue the service. This policy, he considered, was a very serious matter, not only from the Rotorua viewpoint, but also from the point of view of farmers along the route. The cutting out of the service would mean that there was no alternative route to Rotorua in the event of disruption in the rail-

way services. The council decided to make representations to the Government.
