A PAGE FROM THE PAST

From the Bay of Plenty Times of fifty years ago come the followingparagraphs:— Inspectors Report of No. 2 School "From the annual report of the examination of Harington Street School (just to hand) we extract the following: Percentage of Standard passes, 89; percentage of class subjects 78; marks for additional subjects 103, out of a possible 120. Thes% results are good. Drawing and arithmetic were excellent. Order discipline, and tone very good.— Richard Crowe, Inspector.

"This excellent report must be extremely gratifying to Mr Lillington and his staff, especially when we take into consideration that the school was under staffed, and that the examination took place three weeks after the Christmas vacation.

Holy Trinity Church

"Yesterday Bishop Stewart (of Waiapu) administered the rite of confirmation to sixteen candidates in Holy. Trinity church, Tavrranga. The first part of the usual morning service was taken by the incumbent, Rev. C. Jordan, after which the Bishop delivered a particularly earnest and instructive address to the candidates and congregation. He took as his text a portion of the eighty-fourth Psalm: "Blessed are they . . . .they will go from struggle to struggle .... and unto God . . . appeareth every one of them in Zion." llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllillllllH
