Uses Black Hat to Prevent Eye-Strain
Franchot Tone has just had to replace a black felt hat which he owned for the past / seven years, and never wore. Shortly after he entered films in 193 3, Tone followed the advice of a veteran actor and bought a black felt hat with which to "rest his eyes" from glare of studio lights. Tone discovered that by looking into the hat for a few minutes at various times during the day, he I could actually rest his eyes. Recently Tone's hat disappeared on the set of Universal's "Nice Girl." Later he bought a new black felt hat to replace the seven-year-old model ihe had never had on his head.
