WAR CASUALTY

Among recent war casualties announced from Wellington was Ser- ' geant-Observer Lawrence Patrick Ryan, R.N.Z.A.F., who has been admitted to hospital in Norwich, England, and placed on the seriously ill list, suffering from shell wounds to the right thigh and arm, suffered in air operations. His next-of-kin is his father, Mr L. P. Ryan, of Point Chevalier, Auckland. Sergeant Ryan was born in Palmerston North, and is 25 years of age. At the time of his enlistment he was employed in the Public Trust Office, and had served a period in Tauranga. He was educated at the Mount Albert Grammar School, and was a good all-round athlete. He competed at the Centennial sports at Wellington. He left New Zealand in September last year.
