U.S. TAKES UP BOOMERANG
The New York Times devotes a column article on its sports page to boomerang throwing, and draws attention to the growing interest of Americans in the sport, particularly as a result of the efforts of Australian "Storky" Greenwood-Adams, prominent athlete of 20 years ago. Greenwood-Adams is credited with having taught the vice-president, Mr Henry Wallace, who once smashed his fingers with a boomerang, but is now an expert thrower. Many footballers, athletes and others, the paper adds, are now seeking demonstrations, particularly baseball players, who believe the sport may help increase their pitching efficiency.
