SOLDIERS’ PARCELS

CIGARETTES REMOVED

More than one complaint has been received in New. Zealand regarding the removal of cigarettes and tobacco from parcels sent to members of the overseas forces. On receiving parcels, it is pointed out, the men are naturally disappointed to find that articles have been removed. Customs labels often show that cigarettes and tobacco have been included in parcels, yet when they are opened these are found to be missing. In a letter to relatives one soldier suggests that the only method to prevent the theft .of cigarettes and tobacco is for the senders to pack these in sealed containers.
