CONTEST IN SPANKING BREEZE WIN FOR MACUSHLA There were three starters in the race for the larger class boats sailed by the Tauranga Yacht and Power Boat Club on Saturday afternoon, Macushla (R. Tilby), Pandora (A. Humphries) and Naoma (F. Gresham). The race was sailed over a course from the club house to the leading beacon and back to the starting point, once round, and in a piping northerly wind. The three yachts all sailed off the same mark, and the early stages of the race provided a thrilling contest. Off cemetery point, however, Macushla, managed to gain the weather" position and from this stage on she was never headed. Naoma and Pandora were having a great fight for second place, when "Naoma went on to a bank. Macushla sailed over the finishing line two and three-quarter minutes ahead of Pandora.
