FAREWELL EVENING

A farewell was given to Mr Eric Capon on Friday evening last in the Parish Hall, a large crowd attending. After supper Mr Capon was presented with a silver watch from the young people of Te Puke by Mr A. Beale. On behalf of "the Tennis Club Mr McLaughlin presented Eric with an Eversharp Pencil, while Mr N. Valder, on behalf of the Old Boys' Football Club handed the guest a cheque. Music was provided by Miss M. Pilcher and Mr Ray Brennan. Mr G. Hitchens was M.C. The evening closed at midnight with the. singing of "Auld Lang Syne." Mr Capon left Te Puke by the express on Saturday morning to take up Air Force training at Wigram Aerodrome.
