- Screening finally to-night on its return season at the Town Hall is that delightful little singer Deanna Durbin in “Three Smart Girls.” It sets forth the hilarious adventures of three young girls intent on saving their father from an international beauty who wants to marry him for his wealth. It is packed with hilarious situations' and beautiful songs. The cast includes Binnie Barnes, Ray Milland, Nan Grey and Barbara Read.
REGENT When bathing beauties parade, anything can happen. And it does in “Fast and Furious,” opening to-day at the Regent Theatre, to the tune of two murders; several attempted ones, the most startling parade of beauty seen in films for a long while, and the presentation of Franchot Tone and Ann Sothern. Tone plays the part of Joel Sloane, easy-going bibliophile and amateur 1 detective, and Ann Sothern is his devoted wife. Garda. On a supposed vacation at a seaside resort, Sloane finds himself, to Garda’s unconcealed fury, a judge/in the beauty pageant being, staged: then his best friend is held for the murder of the pageant's promoter. Feeling his friend to be innocent. Sloane and Garda set out to prove it. ,
