NEWS IN TOWN
Life Membership. At the close of yesterday evenings’ annual meeting of the Tauranga Acclimatization Society, a Katikati member proposed that a life membership be bestowed upon 'Mr J. J. White, of Katikati, who, it was' stated, has held his 61st consecutive license, in the Society. In supporting the motion, which was unanimously carried, the President, Air. H. Cuff, considered that this may probably constitute a Dominion record. Petty Thieving. The sneak thief is at large. A businessman in Devonport Road recently found the electric bulbs of his community lights missing. These were replaced only to disappear almost immediately. We have not heard whether other tradesmen have been similarly victimised. Difficult to detect, unless by chance, the thefts are despicable, but unfortunately in every community the light-fingered gentry are to be found.
Shooting or Fishing? On several occasions during the general discussion at the annual meeting of the Tauranga Acclimatization Society held yesterday evening, followers of their respective sports continued on in quick succession, and as quickly as the subject was turned to fishing and the stocking of streams, it was just as quickly reverted to shooting and the liberation of game. Tribute.
Prior to the commencement of business at the annual general meeting of the Tauranga Acclimatization Society held yesterday evening, tribute to a former old member and Vice-President, the late Mr T. H. Hall, was paid bj\ the members, who stood in silence for a moment.
