BOMBER CRASHES

THREE KILLED IN ESSEX VILLAGE

London, May 1

After circling for half an hour, apparently trying to find a place to land, a German mine-laying ■ ’plane crashed at Clacton-on-Sea, in Essex last night. Three civilians were killed, and 100 injured, and the crew of four in the machine Avere also killed.

As the ’plane crashed it tore through a row of houses completely demolishing one, where a man and a woman were later found killed, and where it finally came to rest there Avas a huge crater blown in the ground. • This Avas probably caused by the explosion of one of its magnetic mines.

Ambulance workers and bands of men to demolish ruined houses, Avere soon on the scene and did excellent work.
