AMUSEMENTS

TOWN HALL James Cagney is now being starred in Grand National’s elaborate musical- and dancing picture, “Something to Sing About,” current attraction at the Town Hall " Thearte, but is not forsaking the dynamic virile roles in which he gained his greatest fame since coming to the screen. It is true that in this picture, Cagney’s role is that of an orchestra leader, but he does, fight, when the. time comes! What happens when a courageous cattleman mortgages his ranch to aid his fellow ranchers fight the ruthless activities of a big meatpacking company, provides rip-roar-ing action in “Racketeers of the Range,” George O’Brien’s latest RKO Radio western, the Associate feature’. ' * REGENT

Wayne Morris and Claire Trevor head the cast of '“Valley of the Giants,” the Technicolour picture based by Warner Bros, on the famous Peter B. Kyue novel of the same name, now screening at the Regent, Theatre. ‘ It is the story of the successful fight waged tio the utter despoliation, of California’s famous redwood forests by ruthless lumber interests (represented by Charles Bickford) around the turn of the century. While it is concerned with one local aspect of fight, telling in highly exciting manner of the clash between one such despoiler and an altruistic young local lumberman, it is typical of the situation in California throughout the redwood country at that time. The picture has two of the most hair-raising sequences ever filmed.
