Mrs T. C. Allely, who has been visiting relatives in Tauranga. leaves on her return to Auckland on Saturday. Mrs R. 11. Muir leaves on a visit to "Wellington on Saturday, Mrs J. Haar of Tetnuka is visiting her sister Mrs \V. Norris of Harvey Street. Guests at the Tauranga Hotel include Mr and Mrs Kean, Messrs Ringer, Reed, Champtaloup, Willis. Firth, Carr-Smith, Culpan, Farrell, Laws. Wilson and Crawford. Visitors at the Star Hotel include Messrs Walton, Bithell, Ruby, Spencer, Taylor and Stephens.
Mrs A. Budd, of Palmerston North, is spending a week with her parents, the Very Rev. T. H. and Mrs Roseveare, at St. Peter's Manse.
Mr J. Thorn, M.P. for Thames, who represented the Government at the International Labour Conference at Geneva, is returning by the Rangitane. He is accompanied by Mrs Thorn.
Commander A. B. Fanshawe, whose appointment to the New Zealand Naval Station for three years was announced by cable yesterday, will take the place of Captain R. D. Oliver, D.S.C., A.D.C., whose term expires in September (says a Wellington message). Captain Oliver was appointed to the New Zealand station in 1936 and is the second naval member of the Naval Board.
