MYSTERY NO LONOKR The mystery of the site of ancient Troy, long a subject of eager argument an (Speculation among archaeologists, has been solved by the most recent excavations. Mr Stanley Casson, reader in classical archaelogy at Oxford, told a London audience recently that there was no possible site other than that already known. A total of 41 different levels of Troy had now been reached, and the most important discovery was that Troy One (the lowest settlement of all.) was a citadel. ft had enormous fortification walls, every bit as massive as the walls of Trov Two, which can be seen to-day. Troy was destroyed by an earthquake in 1 1550 B.C. The final destruction of Troy Six and Seven came about 1200 B.C.
