HUNTING

MEET AT WAIKARAKA

Again favoured by fine weather, members and followers of the Tauranga ward of the Rotorua and Bay of Plenty Hunt Club had a very enjoyable day’s hunting at Waikaraka, Te Puna, on Thursday last. Scent wa.? lying well and there were some excellent runs. Hounds threw off on Mr W. Allen’s land and eventually crossed over the properties of Messrs W. Smith, F. Shroff and A. Snodgrass, where a hare was raised. From this time onward the pace was fast and the above properties were crossed and re-crossed several times. At a very late hour the hounds were eventually whipped off and the followers were entertained to afternoon tea by Mrs C. Taylor and her lady helpers. Among the riders were: The Dep-uty-Master, Mr J. H. Evans, on Barney; the Huntsman, Mr A. Fenton, on Dick; the Whip, Mr C. Taylor, on Tom Tit; Mr G. Henry on Grey Boy; Master Henry on Corrie; Mr C. Grayling on Sportsman; Mr G. Fogerty on Nero; Mr N. Webb on Home Brew; Mr H. Sommers on Gay Sheen; Mr S. Harper on KingSilver; Mr A. B. Putt on Songstress; Mr Bob Tunbridge on Blue Danube; Mr A. Snodgrass on Waikaraka; Mr M. Perston on Nugget: Mr J. Armstrong on Darkie; Mr C. Mountier on Apata; Mr A. Jordan on Sandy; Miss J. Wilberforce on Trixie; Miss J. Bertram (Rotorua) on Kurapae; Miss E. Anderson on Lance; Miss Mary Turner on Paddy; Miss R. Turner on Diana; Miss M. Hamilton on Sox.
