YOUNG FARMERS
WINTER TOl'R BEING ARRANGED
Members of the ' various Young Farmers' Clubs of the Ray of Plenty have organised, a winter tour of the Waikato. Taranaki. Manawatu, Wellington. Wairarapa, and Hawke's Bay Districts to cover eleven days during June.
Tlie enterprise i; a highly commendable one. and it should appeal to many young men as an ideal method of combining a pleasure tour with one which will aid materially to ones knowledge of the districts to be visited. Places of interest and institutions to be specially visited include Ritakura Farm. Waitomo Caves, Wanganui Fertiliser Works. Massey Agricultural College. Plant Research Station, Wellington Milk Depot. Woollen Mills, Motor Works, etc., as well as a considerable number of leading farms and stud herds. The social side of the tour is also receiving attention, and similar organisations in southern districts will arrange dances etc. for the benefit of the tourists.
While the tour is primarily for members of Young Farmers’ Clubs it is recognised that many young men who are not resident within easy reach of a club may wish to join the party. To such men it is suggested that they get in touch with the secretary of the nearest Young Farmers’ Club or communicate with Mr C. Walker, Instructer in Agriculture, Tauranga.
Although the Young Farmers’ Clubs have been functioning in this district for less than a year, there are already more than 150 financial members, and they have planned to make an annual tour to other districts as an essential feature of their activities. Next year it is proposed to do northern districts, and the following year Poverty Bay and East Coast,
