FOR THE CORONATION

SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS MU SAM STEELE CHOSEN AS REPRESENTATIVE A telegram received from Capt. Clark, of the Dominion Executive Committee of the South African War Veterans’ Association, by Mr M. W. Watt, President of the local Branch, states that Mr Sam Steele, of Tauranga, has been selected to go to the Coronation of King George VI as representative of the New Zealand South African War Veterans. Mr Steele was a member of the first New Zealand Contingent that went to the South African War. As the Association is sending only one representative from New Zealand Mr Steele has been greatly honoured, and deservedly. N.Z. Territorial Force Representatives AVellington, Feb. 22. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, announces that, subject to their passing the final examination, the following have been selected to represent the New Zealand Territorial Forces in the Coronation Contingent:—‘ Officers.— Major D. F. Leckie (Southland Regiment), Captain S. Frickleton, V.C. (Wellington Regiment), Captain H. G. Carruth (North Auckland Regiment), Lieutenant D. Sweetzer (17th Battery, New Zealand Artillery, Wellington), Lieutenant R. W. Haddow, D.C.M. (Taranaki Regiment), Lieutenant A. A. Temient (New Zealand Medical Corps, Wellington), Flying Officer D. E. Grigg (No. 3 Squadron, New Zealand Air Force, Christchurch). The men selected are:

Mounted Rifles.—D. O. Watson (North Auckland), H. J. Harris and D. Wickliffe (Auckland, Hast Coast), L. H. Bregmen (Waikato), K. J. Murray (Wellington, West Coast), I. B. Gibbs (Manawatu), R. H.
