WEDDING
IKWIN—TAYLOR
On the afternoon of January Uth. at Holv Trinity Church, the marriage took place of Margret Vera Valerie, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. E. Taylor, of Omanawa. 1 aura nga. and Walter Leslie, youngest son of the late Mr and Mrs Irwin, of Awhitu Central. Mauukau Heads. The Church had been prettily decorated with pink flowers by friends of the bride, and the Rev. O. S. O. Gibson, of Taurauga. officiated. Mr Webb presided at the organ, and Miss Reka Paterson, of Auckland, cousin of the bride, rendered a solo “My Prayer.”
The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a graceful frock of Chantilly lace over cream charmeuse, fashioned with long tight sleeves and a cowl neckline caught with a spray of orange blossoms at the side. The fitting skirt flared into a train at the back. Her veil was a handsome one of Honiton lace and fell softly over the gown to form a longer train. It was caught well back from the face with a wreath of orange blossom. The bridal bouquet was of cal a lilies and maidenhair
fern. The two bridesmaids in attendance were Miss Noeline Taylor and Miss Gipsy Taylor, sisters of the bride. They wore similar frocks of shell pink georgette and satin beanie, fashioned with frills at the side panels and bodice. The frocks were finished with pink buttons, and their large picture hats, toning with the frocks, were trimmed with pink and silver. Both carried beautiful shower bouquets of pale pink hollyhocks and maidenhair fern.
Hillary Irwin, niece of the bridegroom, and Lesley Taylor, niece of the bride, were the flower girls and wore ankle length floral dimity frocks fashioned in Empire style. To tone with the frocks they wore pink and silver headbands and bracelets, and both carried dainty Victorian baskets filled with pale blue delphiniums, pink rose buds and maiden hair fern tied with silver ribbon. Mr Arthur Irwin, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr Alex Robins of Tauranga was groomsman, Mr Prime carrying out the duties of usher.
After the ceremony a reception was held in the Harbour View Tea Rooms, where about eighty guests were received by the bride’s mother who wore a navy and white ensemble with hat to match, and carried a posy of deep red dahlias.
Mrs G. Irwin, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was wearing a floral ensemble, and carried a posy of red carnations, and Mrs Munro, grandmother of the bride, was in a black silk marocain coat over black and white frock and hat to tone, with posy of pink dahlias. Mr and Mrs Irwin later left on a motor tour of the South, the bride wearing a grey costume with pink blouse and pink Hat.
Their future home will be at Awhitu Central, Manukau Heads.
