THE CIVIC. "Maid of the Mountains” Is a super-entertainment worthy to rank with the foremost films of the world. It leaves the.stage production miles behind. Harry Welchman takes the part of Baldaharre, the bandit chief and his singing of “A Bachelor Gay” is a treat indeed. The picture is directed by Luplno Lane who searched for some time before he found a suitable artist for the part of Teresa. the Maid of the Mountains, and sweetheart of Baldasarre. His lucky star was in the ascendant when Nancy Brown, the 22-year-old Sydney girl, presented herself for a test. This young lady’s singing is simply delightful, and when she finishes her star item “Love Will Find a Way” one feels an almost irresistible desire to applaud and call for more. Incidentally Nancy Brown has a ‘double’ in Tauranga. Betty Stockfield has the part of Angela, the Governor s daughter who is carried off by the bandits. Renee Gadd and Albert Burdon are also in the cast, with several other principals. "Maid of the Mountains” receives its final screening to-night, and at “Guestnight ’ prices should not be missed by anyone.
