MONTH f.V REPORT,

The following report by Mr W. H. Roy, inspector, was submitted to Friday’s meeting of the Tauranga County Council: Notifiable Infectious Disease®. — Three cases of diptheria were notified Inspections and disinfections were carried out and favourable reports forwarded to the Health Department Auckland.

General Inspecton.—Three permits for new houses have been issued. These, together with their drainage and plumbing, will be inspected upon completion. The annual hotel inspection has been completed and a satisfactory report forwarded to the Health Department. The renewal of by-Law Licenses which expired on March 31 is being carried out, seven out of fifteen renewed to date. The renewal of By-law licenses at Mount Maunganui is to be completed at the earliest opportunity. An annual report to the Health Department was given separately. Traffic Inspection.—ln conjunction with other work, patrols have been carried out in all parts of the County. As a result three prosecutions are pending for the more serious breaches. Motorists committing minor breaches have been warned. At the Paengaroa and Tauranga races I was on traffic duty. The Tauranga Racing Club placed one man on point duty at the racecourse gates. The valuable asisstance rendered by him and also by Mr Frost, of the A.A.A., who stationed himself at the Oropi Road corner, was much appreciated.

Noxious Weeds Four prosecutions, which were to have been brought up at this month’s court, have been altered for the May court sessions by the Clerk of the Court. Cr Morton referred to cases in Te Puke where weeds had spread from the properties of absentees. He thought that action should have been taken earlier. Something drastic would have to be done. The infested area was a. menace to the whole district.

Cr Sinclair moved —That the report be approved.—Seconded by Cr Mends and carried. '
