SWIMMING
RACE FOR ARMITAGK TROPHY. The Swimming and Life Saving Club held a race tor ladies for the Armitage trophy at the week-end, when the competitors started from the same mark. The result was as follows: — Miss Betty Sneddon . . 1 Miss R. Patterson ... 2 Miss M. Bates 2 Mies Sneddon held the lead all the way, the distance being fifty yards. Miss Patterson swam strongly in the concluding stages and was defeated by two feet. Miss Bates was a good third. The Citizens’ Cup and the miniature (presented by Mr G. Fogerty) were presented to Miss Jean Cameron, the winner of the harbour race held recently.
