PERSONAL.
Mr Locksley Withy, of Wellington, is spending a holiday in Tauranga, with his father, Mr A. J. Withy.
Miss F. J. Ogilvie, one of the Presbyterian Missionaries to China, is at present spending a brief holiday with her parents in Eighth Avenue. She intends returning to China early in October. Miss Ogilvie is to give an • address in the Prpsbyterian Church on Sunday morning.
Miss Spencer, Dominion President of the Federated Women’s Institutes, arrived here from Whakatane this morning and is staying with Mrs M. C. Jones, President of the Tauranga Branch of the Institute. Miss Spencer will be here until Monday and then leaves for the Waikato. To-day Miss Spencer and the local executive are visiting all neighbouring branches.
Visitors staying at the Tauranga Hotel are Messrs Chatfleld (Cambridge), Vincent (Auckland), Burt (Wellington), and Openshaw and Captain Brake (Matamata). Mr Jack Frost, Bay of Plenty representative for the Auckland Automobile Association, is visiting Tauranga and will be here until Tuesday morning, when he proceeds to Whakatane and will map out and sign-post the Murapara-Te Whaiti Road.
Mr Gordon Butler and Mr Searle are visiting Matamata to-day.
At yesterday’s meeting of the Tauranga Hospital Board a letter was read from Miss E. Conlan resigning her position as sister on the staff of the Tauranga hospital.—The resignation was accepted with regret.
Mrs McGlynn and Miss Clinker, of Auckland, are visiting Tauranga and are staying at the Tauranga Hotel. Professor and Mrs Dunlop and Major Campbell, of Dunedin, are spending a - holiday in Tauranga and are staying with Mr Bluck, “Rooana.”
A letter was read at yesterday’s meeting of the Tauranga Hospital Board from Mr H. W. Returning Officer for the Te Puke Town Board District, advising that Mr Harold Cuff had been re-elected as the representative for the Te Puke .contributory district on the Hospital Board .
Miss Walkinton, of Waverley, arrived in Tauranga to-day and is the guest of Mrs Bradmore. Mr G. Alley, of Katikati, was a visitor to Tauranga to-day. Mr C. G. Bioore, of Gisborne, is visiting Tauranga to-day.
Word has been received that Mr E. A. Entwistle, who underwent an operation in the Mount Pleasant Hospital, Auckland, a few days ago, is doing well, and hopes to be able to leave the institution in about a fortnight.
Messrs Cooney, Bostock, Persey, Sweetman, Harris, Butcher and Cuff have been elected as members of the Te Puke Town Board.
The death is announced from Dunedin of Mrs C. H. Statham, aged 82, after a long Illness. She is survived by her husband, who is secretary of the Otago Diocesan Synod. A son is Sir Charles Statham, Speaker of the House of Representatives.
