Bomb Placed in Doorway TWO GRIEVOUSLY INJURED. Chicago, Sept. 21 A shocking outrage in Chicago today has once more centred public attention on the activities of the lawless elements in the city. A bomb was placed in the doorway of the home of Judge McGoorty, of the Superior Court. It exploded and blew out the eyes of a youth and a young woman who were passing at the time. Their injuries may prove fata!. The girl victim is the mother of a four-months’ old infant. She was strolling past the house with three friends when she noticed the sputtering fuse of the bomb. The young man attempted to extinguish it when the device exploded hurling him and the young woman 10 feet away. Judge McGoorty and his family were badly shaken but not injured. The Mayor, Mr A. J. Cermak, immediately organised extraordinary efforts to trace-the, criminals. Judge McGoorty has given the authorities possible clues to individuals who may be seeking to revenge themselves upon him. There have been 78 bomb explosions in Chicago since January 1. and six persons have been injured.
