STOCK VALUES.
OPOTIKI SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Company Ltd., report on the monthly stock sale held in the Opotikl saleyards on August 4. There was a small yarding of sheep but a large yarding of dairy stock and fat and store cattle came forward in average numbers. Competition for good duality Jersey heifers close to profit was keen and satisfactory prices were obtained. Fat and store cattle were on par with previous sale. We quote:—Best Jersey heifers, £7 to £8 las: others, £5 12s 6d to £6 10s; springing cows, £4 15s to £6; fat cows, £2 IQs; forwardconditioned cows, 25s to £2; store cows, 5s to £1: 3-year bullocks, good condition, £3 15s; 3-year steers, £2 IPs; 6-tooth wethers, Ss 10d: weauer pigs, 10s 6d to 13s; slips, 15s. SALE OF DAIRY CATTLE. At Gisborne’s second dairy sale of the season there was an entry of 320 head. Prices all round show a decline compared with recent ruling rates and last sale. For springing heifers, many good quality Jersey some distance from profit, the highest price was £6 17s 6d. In a few Instances above £5 was paid. Generally values were from £4 to £5. Cows generally realised £3 to £5; unattractive two yearling heifers, good, 32s 6d to 37s 6d, average 255. Several ordinary cows, no bid. A fair part of the entry was passed.
