Messrs: Alfred Buckland and Sons, report: Yesterday at Westfield. we penned fat cattle to the number of 299 head, comprising 204 steers and 95 cows and heifers, compared with 264 last Wed neaday . The quality of the ox beef was first-class, and there was a steady demand, with heavy cattle a trifle easier. Other classes realised late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 43s per 1001 b; choice and prime, 38s to 425; secondary and plain, 35s to 375.
Primes young cow and heifer beef, 36s to 40s; secondary, 30s to 355.
Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l7 to £18; heavy, £ls 10s to £l6 17s 6d; lighten, £l4 to £l6 17s 6d; light, £l2 io» to £l3 17s 6d; unfinished and small, £lO 10s to £l2 12s 6d.
Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £ll 10& to £l2 12s 6d; heavy, £9 10s to £ll 7s 6d; lighter, £7 10s to £9 6d; other cows, £5 10s to £7 7s.
