AMUSEMENTS

TOWN HALL

To-day a special matinee programme will be shown, the featured atraction being “The Joker,” featuring Henry Edwards and Miles Mandcr in the principal roles. The story is novel and thrilling, containing many comedy situations and was taken from Noel Lcatl s play of the same name. At the evening session only Bebe Daniels, comedy queen, will be seen in her latest current release from. Paramount;, “Take Me Home with Neil Hamilton in the leading male role. The story deals with a chorus girl (Bebe Daniels), who befriends David North (Neil Hamilton), a stage struck boy, who has come to the city to become a ; juggler, ho is given a small part as a harmonica player, and from this point comic and romantic situations come thick and fast and present rare entertainment. An exceptional supporting programme is also offering thus making the complete programme one of the best presented this year. On Wednesday and Thursday next two big comedy favourites will appear in “Skirts,” a Metro- . Goldwyn-Mayer comedy. these are Syd Chaplin and Betty Balfour. This picture, an adaptation of the London stage success. “A Little Bit of Fluff.” has all that goes to make up a good comedy. Chaplin’s characterisation of a young husband who becomes entangled in all sorts of worldy snares 1 is excellent. The supporting cast is good, backing up the star in every gag with remarkable ease ‘ and fine comedy sense. All in all “Skirts” is one of the finest pictures of the year, as well as being Chaplin's latest and best comedy. The Box Plans for the above proi grammes are now on view at Stevens’ Bros., the Strand. On Monday, October- 7th, the “Westminster Glee Singers” will appear at the Town Hall, they will present a magnificent programme, composed of solos, duets, part songs, madrigals, anthems, sailor chanteys, and many other works. The visit of the choir is indeed an event, and no doubt one that occurs once in many years, therefore the opportunity of hearing them should not he missed.
