KATIKATI NOTES.

(From our Correspondent). “A Woman in Pawn,” a British film, with John Stuart and Gladys Jennings, will bo screened at Everyone’s to-night. On Tuesday, May 7, the Kiwi Entertainers will give a concert consisting of instrumental items, comany songs; duets, trios, recitations and dances. The entertainment is to be held in the Public Hall and popular prices will be charged. Mrs Palmer has returned' home from the Waihi Hosiptal. The usual service at the Memorial Gates of the Urctara Domain was held at 11 a.m. on Anzac Day, but owing to the inclemency of ■ the weather the attendance was not as high as usual. The Rev.- Mr Palmer conducted the service and the address was given by the Rev. Mr Bishop. On Monday April 22nd, the an- ' nual meeting of householders to elect aa school committee was held. There were present but seven persohs in all, Messrs G. Palmer, E. H. Gledstanes, J. D. Morison, E. Wort ley, A. E. Putt, H. J. Marsh, and the headmaster, Mr Cooper. The new committee elected is as follows^ —Messrs Palmer (Chairman), Gledstanes (Secretary), Morison, Wortley, Putt, Marsh and A. E. Cloutrnan. It shews'great apathy on the part of parents and citizens that so few will attend what is really an important meeting. There is no excuse available on. the score of inclement weather as the night saw perfect. If the school is to progress, then it behoves every parent and citizen to see to it that he or she is doing his or her part in taking an interest in all proceedings connected with the school, and not to leave it to “the other fellow.” Rev. L. Klee has now returned \ home from, the Waihi Hospital. His many friends will be pleased to know that he is rapidly regaining , his health. One of the brightest and ’ most pleasant gatherings in Katikati was held at the Parish Hall on Monday, April 22nd, when Mr and Mrs A. Cannell gave a dance in honour of the occasion of Miss lleno Covcll’s coming of age. The hall was very tastefully decorated and carnival hats, and coloured streamers greatly added to the effect and gaiety of the gathering. Mr Len Blanford was a capable M.C. During the course of the evening, the Rev. Mr Palmer, on behalf of the guests, congratulated Miss Covell, on whose behalf Mr W. Searle suitably responded. Altogether about sixty guests were present and dancing was indulged in till the "wee \ sma’ hours,” Mrs J. S. Johnson ' supplying the music. Between fiances items were rendered by Mr Bearle, whose recitations were muchappreciated, The evening closed . with cheers for the host and hostess. . We regret to have to report that Mr F. Hart has been ordered to hospital at Waihi. On Thursday next a dance will he held in St. Peter’s Parish Hall. Subscriptions; Ladies 1/6; Gentlemen 2/6.
