APPRECIATION
PRESENTATION TO MR B. DIVE. A pleasant function took place in the Town Clerk’s office on Monday night when several councillors and the office staff assembled to express in a tangible way their appreciation of the services of Mr B. Dive, who is retiring after having filled the position of Mayor for ten years. Or J. Tanner, in a neat speech, referred to the good feeling which existed between councillors and Mr Dive, and paid a tribute to his services as Mayor. He ■ regretted Mr Dive’s retirement, and on behalf of the councillors and members of the staff asked him to accept a token of the esteem ih which he is held. He then presented Mr Dive with a handsome oak cabinet containing a set of pipes and a tilver sovereign case. Mr Dive returned thanks for the gift which he said he would always treasure as a happy remembrance of his association with the councillors and staff of the borough.—(Applause).
