POSTAL HOLIDAYS
CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR. Tuesday, December 25, (Christmas Day), Wednesday, December 26, (Boxing Day) and; Tuesday, January 1, (New Year’s Day) will be observed as close holidays. The Post Office will be closed in all its branches on those days. The Telegraph Office will also be closed, unless advised later. The telephone exchange will bet open as usual, day and night. Postmen’si deliveries will not be made.
A delivery of all correspondence, including registered, usually delivered by the postmen, will be made over the post office counter between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. on the evenings of December 24 and 31.
No mails will be despatched on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day. All correspondence will be despatched per steamer mail to Auckland on Mondays, December 24 and 31, closing at 6 p.m. On Wednesday, December 26, all rnailg usually despatched on that day, will close at the usual time up to 8 a.m. All other mails will close at 8 a ra.
On December 24, telegrams will not be delivered after 11 p.m. from any office, unless obviously of an urgent nature. The public are specially requested to post their Christmas mail as early as possible, to avoid the rush ai.d ensure delivery before the holiday-; also, to send telegrams early.
