PROPOSED PYE’S PA WATER SCHEME.

(To the Editor). gjr, Will you allow me space to refute a statement by Air Wm. Lowe, published in your issue of 17th lust., I hat Mr Merriman and I acted without the authority of the settlers of tins part of the district in waiting on the Hon W. Nosworthy regarding the Pye’s Pa water scheme. A meeting of the farmers of this road was called last March. Mr Lowe was invited and premised to attend, but failed to do so, & he' was the only rest dent farme rabeent. Major Scan tiebur y, Mr Merriman, and I were appointed a. committee to go into the matter of feasibility, cost, etc. In pursuance of our investigations, Mr Merriman and I waited on the Hon Minister to find out his attitude, in view of the number of Crown Land sections that would be affected and that are to bo thrown open for selection before the end of next March. He took a very sympathetic view of the scheme, fully realizing the necessity of an adequate water supply for successful dairy farming. This is a plain statement of fact and is not intended to provoke controversy.—l am, etc., W. 11. POOLE. Greerton, Tauranga, Dec. 18, 1923.
