TANGITERORIA HOTEL BURNED

(Per Press Association). Dargaville, Dec. .20. The Tangiteroria. hotel, a wooden building of twenty-three rooms, was totally destroyed by fire at 3.20 o’clock this morning. The building was fairly old and stood on a commanding height. With a heavy gale . blowing, at the time of the outbreak and no water supply it was impossible to save the hotel. The Hc«isee, Mr H. E. J. Rea, and his family, also a number of boarders,

had a fortunate escape. Mr Rea. had an insurance of £625 on the stock

' and furniture, but estimates his loss at fully £IOOO over the insurance, *’ as he had just landed a large stock for the Christmas trade. The building was owned by Messrs L. D. Nathan and Co., of Auckland, The insurances on the building are not available.
